“Every Which Way But Loose – OR Gauge; Not Just for Shotguns Any More.” Esteemed Librarian of the AKG, Lois “Deadeye” Mitchell, will emerge from her stacks of learned tomes to enlighten those members new to the arcane art of knitting while refreshing the memories of those for whom wielding the needles is second nature.
We all know that wool comes from sheep, cashmere comes from goats, cotton comes from bushes, silk comes from worms and acrylic comes from Delaware (Dupont). Often we are, however, woefully ignorant of the difference between the weights and the plies of yarns and how each is used and behaves. Add this sad state of affairs the fact that said yarns come in wrappers full of incomprehensible symbols and obscure information. It is a wonder that we manage to knit anything more complex than dishcloths.
PREPARE TO BE ENLIGHTENED. Deadeye will shoot holes in the arcane obscurity so that we can bathe in the clear bright light of knowledge.
