October’s Superstar is Romi Hill

Hope the display of a few of Romi Hill designed shawls at the April meeting will tempt you to sign up for the workshops that will be offered in October. Romi will be speaking at the October AKG meeting.

Rosemary (Romi) Hill learned to crochet and bead in preschool. After being begged incessantly, Romi’s mother finally relented and taught her to knit, as well. It was love at first stitch. She knit off and on throughout several phases of life, until in 2002, she resumed knitting passionately after a long hiatus, discovering the internet knitting community in the process.Learning to knit lace prompted the 2005 founding of her company, Designs by Romi, selling handmade shawl pins and sweater closures. In 2006, she began designing knit jewelry and lace. Her patterns have appeared in several books, in Interweave Knits, Knitscene, Knitty, and Twist Collective, and Interweave Press published her book: Elements of Style: Knit + Crochet Jewelry with Wire, Fiber Felt + Beads in late 2008. Check out her designs on Ravelry here. Her website is: http://www.designsbyromi.com/

Her eBook subscription “7 Small Shawls to Knit, Year 3″ is currently wrapping up and she is currently planning another. She recently moved to beautiful Northern Nevada.

Please click here for a printable PDF with descriptions of the workshops that she will be teaching and a registration form to print and mail in, with a check to the AKG for the workshops you’d like to take. Registration is open to AKG members in May, and opens to others June 1.
