Deborah Fillmer, aka the Nautical Knitter will be making a return visit to the AKG. A woman of many interests, she is currently working on her Master of Divinity at Liberty University, has some incredible lace pieces for show up on her blog, finished a yearlong "sock quest - knitting a sock a month. Plus, she has time to create beautiful smocked dresses for young ladies! Deborah is going to share the new KAL - a sock pattern based on the Galadriel Shawl KAL that began in June 2009. BTW, have you finished your shawl KAL that began in June 2009? If yes, plan to bring it with you for a fabulous impromptu fashion show of the yarns and beads used for your shawl. If you haven't and the shawl is on your needles, bring it for a reason to finish and have it to wear this winter!
We look forward to seeing you in September!

Women's Shelter Hats
On February 11, Linda Fetter delivered fifteen alpaca hats of various sizes and patterns to the Atlanta Day Shelter for Women & Children, just in time for the newest wave of cold weather. The yarn was contributed by Georgia Mountain Fibers and the hats were knitted by about ten AKG members.
If you signed out some of the yarn but were unable to bring a finished hat to the February meeting, Linda will still be collecting them and any unused yarn at the monthly meeting.
Thank you to all the knitters who helped on this special project. The hats were warmly received.

SOUTHEAST FIBER ALLIANCE
AKG became a founding member of the Southeast Fiber Arts Alliance (SEFAA) in 2010. SEFAA seeks to develop a vibrant, creative coalition and a comprehensive fiber arts center that will engage the public, inspire and support artists, and teach and display all aspects of the fiber arts. Open to anyone with an interest in fiber, SEFAA will intertwine the fiber art community while celebrating, supporting, and perpetuating all fiber art forms.
